Review of the Autumn Outing 2025

This year's trip was themed ‘The Journey of Baggage’.

Airport Zurich - The Journey of the baggage

We met in the afternoon in Arrivals Hall 2 at Zurich Airport and were immediately provided with lots of interesting information. We then went down to the basement, where over 30 kilometres of conveyor belts transport baggage for processing.

TControl Room - The Journey of the baggagehe tour offered exciting insights – from the handling of prohibited items to the controlled detonation of dangerous goods that had been mistakenly checked in as luggage. The facility is still quite new, with around CHF 250 million invested in it. This is also evident in the state-of-the-art system monitoring, which made many an SMC's mouth water. We ended the afternoon on the upper deck with a small aperitif and lively conversation.

All in all, it was a very successful event – don't miss it next year!

Roger Suter - SATTA EB Member International AffairsOur colleagues from the IBEW Association (Canada) review all working papers and select those that are relevant to ATSEPs, such as WP81.

Ing Frank Kofi Apeagyei (Ghana, IFATSEA President): Flight safety remains the backbone of global air traffic. Every flight depends on the reliability of air traffic management systems. And at the heart of this infrastructure are highly skilled professionals, the Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP). Therefore, IFATSEA calls on the ICAO Assembly to endorse Working Paper 81 (Importance of Retaining ATSEP in ICAO PANS Training). This paper advocates for the continued inclusion of ATSEPs.

IFATSEA is your voice at ICAO.

Through your membership in SATTA, you will be represented by IFATSEA at the ICAO General Assembly – and your interests will be actively promoted there.
