This year SATTA invites its member for the Social Event to visit the coal mine Käpfnach in Horgen.
The history of the coal mine goas back to the mediaval on 1548, where it was mentioned in the Stumpf'schen Chronical the first time. in 1708, the coal was mined the first time industrial over a time of 20 year. In 1776, it was reported that it was very risky to work as a miner. In 1784, the government of the Canton Zurich decided to mine the coal in a more professional way, like abroad. In 1875 a manufactury for concreat was established nearby. But in 1911 the coal mine as well as the manufacturing for concreat was closed as it was profitable enough.
During both World Wars the coal mine faced a revival in order to ensure the supply of fossil fuels was guaranteed. 1947 the mine was closed forever.

On site we will visit the museum, where we will see a documentry about the mining of coal during the World War II. Then "helmet on" for a 1,4km trip into the mountain. Deep in the mountain, below solid rock, we will stay at the "Stollentrunkplatz". 300 meters in the mountain, 33 meters below solid rock, we will have dring of Most, eat cake of ham, nut baguette and Sbrinz cheese.
