Introduction

Engineers and technicians called ATSEP (Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel) carry out their profession in the technical services of air traffic control centres as well as airports. ATSEP ensure the safety of air transport in a complex environment and various sectors like:
• Communication (radio, phone, datalink)
• Navigation (ILS, MLS, D-GPS, ...)
• Surveillance (radar, airport movement area control system)

AND

• ATM (Air Traffic Management)
Our profession is under constant development mainly due to the constant evolution and merging of Air Traffic Control Systems.

Qualification and education

The mastery of those systems used in Air Traffic Control is a direct result of specific and continous training of the ATSEP. This constant training leads to a qualification, which will require a licence. This whole technical related complex aspects are an integral part of the Air Traffic Control System.
